Job Summary
The Installation & Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality of all installation projects and ensuring windows and doors are installed in accordance with company standards, manufacturer specifications, building codes, and customer expectations. This position manages installation quality from scheduling through project completion, conducts site inspections, coordinates with installers and service personnel, resolves quality concerns, and ensures all installations are completed accurately, safely, and on time.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Sales, Production, Service, and Operations teams to minimize deficiencies, warranty claims, rework, and customer complaints while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all installation and service projects.
- Supervise and support installation crews to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
- Conduct site inspections during and after installations to verify workmanship, product quality, and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Review installation schedules and coordinate labour, materials, equipment, and resources with the Operations team.
- Ensure all installations comply with manufacturer installation guidelines, Alberta Building Code requirements, and company quality standards.
- Identify installation deficiencies, product issues, or workmanship concerns and coordinate corrective actions promptly.
- Perform final quality inspections prior to project completion and customer handover.
- Coordinate service work, warranty repairs, deficiencies, and customer concerns with the Service Department.
- Investigate installation-related warranty claims and determine root causes while implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain quality inspection reports, deficiency logs, installation records, and service documentation.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures, inspection checklists, and installation best practices.
- Monitor installer performance and provide coaching, training, and technical guidance to improve workmanship.
- Work closely with Sales, Production, Shipping, and Customer Service to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Ensure all required materials, hardware, and accessories are available before installations commence.
- Conduct random field audits of active and completed projects to maintain consistent installation quality.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, manufacturer requirements, and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce installation errors, warranty costs, and customer callbacks.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in window and door installation, quality control, or construction management.
- Previous supervisory or management experience within the window and door industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of residential and commercial window and door installation practices.
- Thorough understanding of vinyl, aluminum, glazing systems, hardware, flashing, waterproofing, and finishing requirements.
- Ability to read architectural drawings, shop drawings, installation details, and specifications is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic reporting software.
- Valid driver's licence with the ability to travel to project sites throughout the service area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing multiple installation crews.
- Knowledge of Alberta Building Code and CSA installation standards.
- Experience handling warranty claims and service operations.
- Familiarity with ERP, CRM, or project management systems.
- First Aid and Fall Protection certifications are considered assets.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly travel to job sites.
- Ability to inspect installations in various weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs when required.
